If you’re looking for a special place to celebrate the ringing in of the New Year, look no further than Québec City. In winter, when flakes of snow begin to fall from the sky covering the city in a fluffy white blanket, Québec City transforms into a charming magical winter wonderland. A beautiful backdrop for celebrating the biggest party of the year, New Year’s!

From December 27th to 31st, Québec City dresses itself up and celebrates the ending of one year and the hopes and wishes for the new year to come. A time when friends and family and visitors from around the world enjoy four days of activities and music. Québec City hosts many parties throughout the year, but New Year's is the biggest of them all and is completely free.

Are you ready to leave the past year behind you and celebrate a new year? Here is how to celebrate New Year’s in Québec City like a boss!

1 Party Hop Along Grande Allée

Grande Allée is the place to go for gourmet restaurants and lively bars, each with heated terraces and festive libations. Whether you’re alone or with a group of friends, embrace the party ambiance along Grande Allée with an Ice Bar crawl and share your photos on Instagram using #jourAnQc to see your photos appear on the big screen.

2 Fun for the Whole Family

Enjoy activities and entertainment for children, ride the Big Wheel and get a birdseye view of Québec City, buy maple taffy (poured over snow and rolled onto a popsicle stick), go ziplining or get your thrills on the Super Shot at Parc de la Francophonie, a go-to for families, couples and anyone looking for some New Year’s fun.

3 Don’t Worry About the Weather… Québec City Heats Things Up

While embracing the cold is part of the fun, Québec City knows how to heat things up so you can get the most out of New Year’s. Take advantage of heated terraces (and a few cocktails) along Grande Allée or sit around outdoor fireplaces to warm yourself and roast marshmallows or stop by the hot doughnut kiosk and food trucks. Of course, the party itself will heat things up rather nicely as well.

4 An Outdoor Nightclub

Place de l’Assemblée-Nationale is where you’ll find a big open-air dance floor on New Year’s Eve. Let the music take over your body and dance all night as Rouge FM Québec radio station plays the Top 50 songs of the year, followed by the ABC Tour bringing together DJs Angelz, Bijou and Ciszak. Watch fire-eaters and listen to percussionists. If you prefer traditional music, go to Parc de la Francophonie. There is entertainment all night long, so dress warm and be ready to party!

5 A Countdown Worthy of a Mic Drop

New Year’s Eve is never complete without a huge display of colourful fireworks, and Québec City is no different. Watch the big screen and count down to the New Year with revelers from around the world, watch the fireworks burst forth from the Plains of Abraham over Grande Allée and the total destruction of the 2017 Ice Sculpture. Ring in the New Year, outside, like a boss, in one of the historical cities in Canada. Mic drop.
