From the moment you tell your friends you’re off to explore the oldest city in Canada, they are sure to be green with envy, who wouldn’t be? Cobblestone streets, trendy cafés, historic stone buildings, and scenery that is so stunning it will leave you weak in the knees. Here are my favourite experiences in the city to capture and share on Instagram.

  • 1

    Rue du Petit-Champlain

Stand atop the stairs of Escalier du Casse-Cou on Côte de la Montagne for a classic shot of rue du Petit-Champlain a gorgeous perspective, particularly after a snowstorm.

  • 2

    Take the Québec-Lévis ferry

Capture the Québec City skyline from the shores of Lévis! The ferry takes 10 minutes to cross the St. Lawrence River and the view of the city is spectacular especially at night.

  • 3

    German Christmas Market

Québec City has a German Christmas Market?! Hells yes we do! It’s the perfect occasion to taste Swiss fondue or maple taffy, buy traditional German handicrafts. There is plenty to see, eat, and Instagram at this delightful Christmas market.

  • 4

    Rue des Jardins

Stand at the junction of rue Donnacona and rue des Jardins for a shot of Québec City’s tiniest house facade next to Musée des Ursulines de Québec.

  • 5

    Terrasse Pierre-Dugua-De Mons

This is THE place to go for a classic postcard shot of Château Frontenac, Old Québec and the St. Lawrence River. Just walk along the path from La Citadelle de Québec to the end and voilà!

  • 6

    Maison de la littérature

From the light streaming through the large old church windows to the white and blonde wood décor to the modern contemporary spiral staircase, Maison de la littérature is one of the most instagrammed indoor spots in Québec City.

  • 7

    Skating at Place D’Youville

Embrace winter in Québec by skating on the outdoor rink just outside the old city walls and enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate.

  • 8

    Observatoire de la Capitale

On a clear sunny day, you can capture stunning overhead shots of Québec City, which is absolutely magical in winter!

  • 9

    Café Mælstrøm

Trendy café by day, cocktail bar by night. Indulge in coffee-infused cocktails or cold brew coffee in this popular café in Saint-Roch. We bet your friends have never been to a coffee shop cocktail bar!

  • 10

    Brunch at Pied Bleu

Make reservations ahead of time as this little restaurant in Saint-Sauveur gets crowded quickly. Order all the things, arrange your table, and take an Instagram shot that will make everyone drool!

  • 11

    Le Lièvre & la tortue

Possibly one of the most instagrammable tearooms in Québec City, you will want to photograph every inch of this vintage-chic tearoom in Limoilou.

  • 12

    Chute Montmorency

Follow the path at the top of the falls to the bridge for a cool down-angle shot of the falls (30m higher than Niagara Falls), or Instagram an up-angle shot showing it in all its magnificent winter glory.

  • 13

    Ice Hotel

It is a hotel made from snow and ice which includes a bar and even a wedding chapel. This one has sexy written all over it!

  • 14

    Poutine

Everyone needs a mouthwatering Instagram shot of poutine in their instagram feed. Watch your number of likes explode as your followers begin craving their own bowl of poutine.
